Nvidia document confirms HTC Nexus 9 tablet

Nvidia document confirms HTC Nexus 9 tablet

NEW DELHI: A legal document, part of Nvidia's lawsuit against Qualcomm and Samsung, confirms the presence of HTC Nexus 9 tablet.

Interestingly, the document also mentions that the tablet is expected to release in the third quarter of 2014 and use Nvidia Tegra K1 processor. This means that the tablet could be unveiled before the end of September if the three entities (Google, HTC and Nvidia) stick to the same launch schedule.

It is worth mentioning that the Nexus 9's expected launch date also indicates the release schedule of the final version of Android L, Google's next Android release, since the tablet is expected to run the new OS.

Previous reports have indicated that HTC Volantis is the name of the 8.9-inch Nexus tablet. The tablet is rumoured to sport an 8.9-inch display(2048x1440p) with a 4:3 ratio. Unlike Nexus 7(2013), the new tablet is expected to be powered by an Nvidia Logan 64-bit processor and 2GB RAM. The tablet will supposedly come in 16 and 32GB internal storage variants and will sport an 8MP rear camera with optical image stabilisation and a 3MP front-facing camera.

It is likely to feature aluminium, zero-gap construction with tapered sides and weigh 418gram. It will feature stereo, front-facing speakers similar to HTC's recent smartphones. Reports have indicated a Q4 2014 release date for the tablet.
