Vishal Sikka reaches out to exiting Infosys employees

BANGALORE: Infosys CEO Vishal Sikka is putting extraordinary focus on improving employee engagement as he battles record high attrition levels. The latest is a lengthy mail to employees who are putting in their papers, a mail that seeks to persuade them to reconsider their decision to leave the firm. The move coincides with another that is encouraging employees to participate in a crowdsourced ideas initiative, one that has drawn 2,650 ideas.

Employees who hit the exit button on the company's internal E-separation system receive an automated email from Sikka that captures the transition underway to re-energize the $8.2-billion IT firm.

"Having contributed to our success this far, I think it's only fair that you be offered another opportunity to rethink your decision to move on and be a part of the excitement that's brewing. Should you want further clarity before you reconsider being part of the new adventure, do schedule a chat with your unit leadership. Undoubtedly, the best of Infosys is yet to come," he says in the email.

Infosys did not respond to a query on this from TOI.

Infosys had record high attrition of 19.5% in the June quarter, significantly higher than that of its peers in the industry. In the mail, Sikka says he chose Infosys to make a difference and says employees could consider the same. He quit as CTO of SAP in May and joined Infosys in August. "With your decision to leave Infosys, it's evident that you're unsure about being able to do your best work at Infosys...The reasons why then I chose to be an Infoscion are the same reasons I would like for you to consider today," Sikka's mail says.

"Think about it -- we are at the threshold of something truly amazing here — an evolution of everything around us from atoms and bits — creating exciting new avenues for people and businesses to engage more meaningfully and thrive," he says.

Sikka assures employees that he would drive the agenda to stay relevant in a dynamic world where software is reshaping clients' businesses. "We have so many great ideas to renew ourselves and Infosys. These will get momentum, get stronger and come to life," the mail says.
