Microland adapts to the cloud
BANGALORE: IT services company Microland has rolled out Microland 4.0, positioning itself as a hybrid IT infrastructure service provider that combines cloud-based services, automation and process re-engineering.
The Bangalore-based IT infrastructure specialist will marry traditional IT, and public, private and hybrid cloud services from different service providers to help businesses become more agile and efficient. "Hybrid IT is the enabling framework to deliver computing as a service whereby shared resources, software and information are provided as a utility (like the electric grid) over a network (both enterprise networks and private networks like the internet)," said Pradeep Kar, CMD of Microland. The firm has partnered with Amazon Web Services, Citrix, Microsoft and VMware to deliver cloud-based offerings.
IT research and advisory firm Gartner said the public cloud services market is expected to grow 17.8% to $153 billion in 2014. Everest Group's research has suggested that more than half of the enterprises are spending in excess of 10% of their annual budget on cloud services. "The road to hybrid IT and enterprise transformation to hybrid infrastructure as a service has challenges. Enterprises should avoid vendor /technology lock-ins and instead integrate best of breed technology," said MS Rangaraj, chief innovation officer of Microland.
Microland has over 2,700 employees across its offices in North America, Europe, Middle East and India. It was incorporated in 1989 and is celebrating 25 years of operations this year.
